What began as a rare, event-only cigar proved far too good to stay under wraps. Recognizing they had something special on their hands, Steve Saka and the team at Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust ramped up production and officially unleashed Polpetta on the rest of the country. Once Umbagog held the title of DTT’s value-driven everyday smoke, but Polpetta now steps into the spotlight—ready to challenge anything in its price range.

Polpetta is a mixed-fill cigar, but don’t let that label fool you. Its core is built from Broadleaf trimmings sourced from some of Dunbarton’s most celebrated blends, including Mi Querida and Red Meat Lovers. Those trimmings are bolstered by additional full leaves of Connecticut Broadleaf and Mexican San Andrés, with San Andrés serving as the binder. The entire blend is finished in a rich Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, giving the cigar its signature depth and character.

Construction is rock solid, with a tight ash and consistent burn that defies expectations—most smokers would never guess this is a mixed-fill cigar. Flavor-wise, Polpetta stays true to the Dunbarton house style, delivering generous helpings of cocoa, earthy richness, and peppery spice from start to finish.

This “little meatball” punches well above its weight—and proves once again that DTT doesn’t cut corners, even when they cut leaves.
